What the free hour really gets you

From Monday to Saturday you can walk in for free from 8:30 to 9:30, with no groups inside. But entry shuts at 9:20 and staff start clearing the building, so arrive at 8:30: that leaves you about fifty minutes. It's enough for the forest of columns and the mihrab, and little else. On days of special celebrations there's no free hour.

If you'd also like to take in the cathedral part without rushing, pay the €15 and go in later.

Online or at the Patio de San Eulogio

Official sales are on the website and at the Patio de San Eulogio, the new reception centre on Calle Torrijos. Your ticket also gets you into its rooms and scale models, a good introduction before you enter the building. That's where you collect audio guides. The ticket covers the Ruta de las Iglesias Fernandinas too, a route of churches.

Tower places are limited

Slots last 30 minutes and take 22 people at most, always with staff. You climb on foot up narrow stairs to about 40 metres, like a 12-storey building. Medium and large backpacks can't go up. Buy early if you're keen, and skip it if tight spaces bother you.

El Alma de Córdoba night visit

The night visit lasts an hour, starts in the Patio de los Naranjos and continues inside, with no photos. In November and December the general sessions are at 20:00 and 21:30, but not every day, so check the schedule tool before you plan your evening.

Ticket only or with a guide

If you just want to get in, the official website is cheapest. Tiqets and GetYourGuide mainly sell guided tours with entry included, which make sense if you want someone to explain a building that's a mosque and a cathedral at once.
