The best museums in Valencia, one day for each area
The free visits are in the centre: the Fine Arts Museum charges no entry and opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–20:00. The expensive tickets are around the Turia: the Oceanogràfic and the City of Arts and Sciences, which the complex itself suggests spreading over two or three days if you want to see it all.
The Bioparc sits at the other end of the river, so don't try to fit it in on the same day as the aquarium. For football fans, the Mestalla tour takes an hour, as long as it doesn't clash with a match.
When the Valencia Tourist Card pays off
The 24, 48 or 72-hour card is sold on the Visit València website and includes transport and museum discounts. Free entry to the Cathedral and IVAM comes only with the 7-day version, which has no transport: here's how they differ. If you're only here for the big sites by the Turia, think twice, because there the card gets you discounts, not entry.
