The 60 free places for EU citizens

Monday to Friday on working days, the caves keep the 9:15 slot for EU citizens. Tickets are released online only, at 9:15 two days before: for a Wednesday, on Monday at that time. The limit is two per person, and if you arrive late you lose your slot. Set an alarm, because there aren't many.

What the standard ticket gets you

The online ticket costs from €16 and includes the Museo de Nerja, in the town, and the Virtual Reality Room. The audio guide is free, but you have to download it before you go. Online tickets can't be changed or refunded. Tiqets sells the ticket on similar terms, so compare the total and the times available.

The quieter hours

The caves themselves suggest early in the morning, 10:00 to 11:30, when it's less crowded. The visit lasts about 50 minutes. Wear closed shoes with non-slip soles. It isn't recommended for people with reduced mobility.

Reaching Maro

The caves are in Maro, on the edge of Nerja. Parking is charged by the minute. By bus, look for the "Nerja (Cuevas)" stop with ALSA, from Nerja or Málaga. With no car and not much time, the day trips from Málaga include the caves and a walk around Frigiliana.
