The weekend to avoid

During the Mercado de Motores market, the museum suspends its normal activity. Its website puts the market on the second weekend of the month, except in July and August, but the ticket calendar shows 7 and 8 November 2026. Check that calendar before you go: it lists the days with no advance sales.

Saturdays give you the most time

From October to May, it stays open until 19:00 on Saturdays and public holidays. The rest of the week it closes at 15:00, as it does every day from June to September. The Territorio Ferroviario hall starts clearing 30 minutes before closing, so don't leave it until last.

Paying less as a family

The special offer of three tickets costs €15: check its conditions on the museum's website. For large-family card holders with at least one adult and three children (or two, in cases set by the museum), the children don't pay and adults pay €4. Free and reduced entry is checked at the ticket office.

Madrid's tourist board says there's theatre at 12:30 on weekends and public holidays from October to May.

Take the metro to Delicias (line 3) or the Cercanías commuter trains, lines C1 and C10. For more ideas with children, see museums for kids in Madrid.
