Closing times change with the season

It opens at 9:00, but closing varies. From 1 April to 20 June it shuts at 18:00, and at 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. From 21 June to 20 September it's mornings only, until 15:00. From 21 September to 31 March it runs until 18:00, Tuesday to Saturday. Sundays and public holidays always end at 15:00. Mondays are closed, unless the next day is a public holiday.

The ticket office shuts half an hour before closing, and clearing starts before closing time too: the official listing says 15 minutes and the visitor rules say 30. Plan on the longer one.

Taking the bus

Lines M-170A and M-170B run from Plaza de Armas station in Seville to Santiponce. Coming back, there's a stop at the site entrance. Look up the Consorcio de Transportes timetable before you set off.

Day trip or on your own

Entry costs little or nothing, so with a tour you're paying for transport, a guide or both. It's worth it if you don't want to rely on the bus or you'd like the ruins explained. The Tiqets option with transport adds a medieval monastery, and the bike trip starts in Seville and takes half a day.

What you can't bring in

Bags, backpacks, strollers and umbrellas count as large items and can't come in. Food is only allowed in the marked areas. Under-14s must be with an adult.
