Free
Free every Sunday from 15:00 and all day on the first Sunday of the month. At any time, entry is free for under-16s, BCN Card holders, people with a recognised disability card, accredited teachers in formal education and holders of the free Tarjeta Rosa. On free-entry days the guided tour costs €4 and the audio guide €3.
Booking
The castle sells online only on its own website and says it has no agreements with third-party companies: any complaint goes to the platform that sold you the ticket. Purchases are non-refundable, except for justified force majeure. Ticket offices close half an hour before the castle.

From 1 November to 28 February, 10:00 to 18:00 (ticket offices until 17:30). From 1 March to 31 October, 10:00 to 20:00 (ticket offices until 19:30). Open Monday to Sunday.

Castle and cable car are sold separately

The cable car is transport, and its ticket doesn't include castle entry. Nearly everything resellers offer at Montjuïc is the cable car, not the castle.

To get in, use the castle's website: €12. It says that's the only place it sells online, that it has no agreements with third-party companies, and that any complaint goes to the platform you bought from. The guided walks on Tiqets or GetYourGuide that include a castle visit are a different product: you're paying for the whole outing.

Getting up the hill

On the cable car's website, an adult round trip is €17.10 online and €19 at the ticket office. Ages 4 to 12 pay €11.70 and €13. The same site says one-way tickets are sold at the ticket office only, though Tiqets sells a one-way from Montjuïc mountain.

You have other options. Bus 150 ends at the castle and takes about 20 minutes from Plaza de España. On foot, it's 20 or 25 minutes from the funicular and cable car station.

Free Sundays, and what still costs

Entry is free every Sunday from 15:00 and all day on the first Sunday of the month. On those days the guided tour costs €4 and the audio guide €3. The BCN Card gets you in free as well.

November to February: watch the clock

The castle closes at 18:00, with ticket offices open until 17:30, and the cable car also stops at 18:00. Last access to it is 15 minutes before closing, or 20 if you want the full ride. If you're relying on it to get down, leave yourself time.

Guided tour or audio guide

Guided tours leave at 13:00 in English, 15:30 in Spanish and 16:30 in Catalan; check the castle's website for which days they run. The audio guide costs €3 and lasts about an hour, and you need an ID document to use it. Purchases aren't refunded unless there's a proven case of force majeure.
