San Telmo: free every Tuesday for everyone and on 18 May. With proof, also for under-25s, officially unemployed people, teaching card holders, ICOM card holders, official tourist guides, journalists and people with a disability. Aquarium: free for ages 0 to 3.
Opening hours
San Telmo: Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 19:00 from 1 November to 31 March and 10:00 to 20:00 from 1 April to 31 October; it opens on Mondays that are public holidays or part of a long weekend. Aquarium: January, February, March, October, November and December, Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00, and weekends, public holidays and long weekends 10:00 to 20:00. April, May, June and September, Monday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00, and weekends and public holidays 10:00 to 20:00. July, August and Holy Week, every day 10:00 to 20:00. The Aquarium ticket office closes 60 minutes earlier.

How to spend a Tuesday

San Telmo charges nothing on Tuesdays, and on that day, as on Thursdays and Saturdays, the Aquarium feeds its sharks in the big ocean tank. Pair the two, and check the feeding time with the Aquarium beforehand.

Stay away on Mondays. San Telmo is shut except on public holidays and long weekends, and from October to March so is the Aquarium, except on long weekends.

San Telmo: you may already qualify for free entry

Under-25s, officially unemployed people and holders of a teaching card don't pay, with proof. Without a discount it's €10, or €4 for students, over-65s and large families. The San Sebastian Card also earns a discount.

Aquarium extras and closing dates

The ticket office closes an hour early. The audio guide is €3 extra, and the large-family rate costs €50. Both sites close on 25 December, 1 January and 20 January.

When a tour pays off
