Booking

Tickets are sold at the visitor reception centre, in the car park area, until 45 minutes before closing. You can enter the castle until 30 minutes before closing.

Opening hours

October to March: Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 18:00. April to September: Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 19:00. Sundays and public holidays: 10:00 to 15:00 all year.

Closed

Mondays, 1 January, Easter Sunday, 1 May and 25 December. It may also close during a weather alert, if the decision is taken to close the parks.

Pick your day with care

Inside is the city history museum, the Museo de Historia de la Ciudad. A ticket costs €4 and Sunday costs nothing, but that day it closes at 15:00. It doesn't open on Mondays.

Work back from closing time: ticket sales stop 45 minutes before, and entry to the castle 30 minutes before. On a Saturday in November, the last ticket goes at 17:15.

The ticket office is in the car park

You won't find it at the castle itself. It's in the visitor reception centre, in the car park area. Tiqets, GetYourGuide and Headout don't sell the ticket on its own, only tours that stop here, by e-bike or private. With those you're paying for the route or the guide; to get in, the ticket office is enough. The castle's own guided tour is listed as suspended.

Getting up to the castle

Tourist bus: line 50 stops at the castle.
EMT city bus: lines 4, 20 and 46 leave you at the bottom. From Plaza Gomila it's about 20 minutes on foot and 463 steps. From Calle Joan Miró, 16, about 30 minutes.
Car: take Calle Camilo José Cela to the car park.

When the weather turns

If the city decides to close its parks in bad weather, the castle closes too, sometimes with only a few hours' notice. With a poor forecast, confirm it's open before you head up.
